Vidlik - Accessibility
Last reviewed: October 16, 2026 - Vidlik 1.1 on iOS and iPadOS 17, macOS 15 and watchOS 10 or later
The short version: On iPhone, iPad and Mac, Vidlik follows dark appearance, Reduce Motion, Increase Contrast and Differentiate Without Color, and on Mac the App Store page also lists VoiceOver. Voice Control, VoiceOver on iPhone and iPad and, there, larger text sizes work across the app, but every task has not yet been checked from start to finish with them, so the App Store page does not list them for now. Apple Watch follows the same settings, apart from VoiceOver and larger text, which are not listed there yet. The gaps we know about are under Known limitations.
This page is the accessibility information linked from Vidlik's App Store page. It says, feature by feature and device by device, what the app supports and where the gaps are. It is reviewed with every release; the date above is the last time it was checked against the app.
The App Store accessibility labels
Apple's labels describe an app as supporting a feature only when every typical task can be completed with it, and they are given separately for each device. This is where Vidlik stands on each one, in Apple's order.
- VoiceOver
- Supported on Mac. Not listed yet on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Each card is read as one sentence: the name, the count, the date line, the progress and whether a reminder is on, for example "No alcohol, 216 days, Started on 26 Feb 2026, 216/365 days, Reminder on". Move Earlier and Move Later are in the Actions rotor of a card, Delete Reset in the Actions rotor of a reset, and deleting a card asks for confirmation first. An award reads its name, what it is for and how many times you have earned it, or how close you are; on its page, the medal has a Flip action that reads the day you earned it. New awards, form errors and discarded changes are announced. In the Overview, every streak reads its current length and its record, and the timeline reads each attempt with its dates. Widgets are read the same way as cards. On iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch the label will be added once every task has been checked end to end on each of them.
- Voice Control
- Not listed yet on any device. A card answers to its name, so "Tap Gym" (on a Mac, "Click Gym") opens it. Colours answer to their names ("Tap Teal"), reminder weekdays to the full or the short name ("Tap Tuesday"), goal presets to the number, and the Overview button also to "Awards". "Show names" and "Show numbers" label every control. The label will be added once every task has been checked with it. Apple Watch does not have Voice Control.
- Larger Text
- iPhone and iPad: not listed yet. Text follows the system text size up to the largest accessibility sizes. Cards, the Overview and Awards change their layout so nothing is cut off: numbers and labels stack, and the grids show fewer columns. The add button keeps its size and shows a larger version when you touch and hold it. Two places still need work (see Known limitations); the label will be added after they are fixed. Mac: Apple does not use this label for Mac apps. Apple Watch: not listed yet; text follows the system size, but it has not been checked at the largest sizes on a watch.
- Dark Interface
- Supported on all devices. Vidlik follows the system appearance and every screen has a full dark theme. On a Mac, the About tab in Settings looks like a terminal and stays dark in both.
- Differentiate Without Color
- Supported on all devices. The selected colour has a ring around it, not just a different shade. Selected reminder weekdays look pressed. Form errors have a warning symbol next to the text. Awards you have earned are in full colour with the date; those you have not are grey and faded and show your progress in words. In Stats the current streak is labelled "Current" in bold, and in the Overview every streak is marked with its emoji or initial and its number of days, not only its colour. On Apple Watch, awards you have not earned yet are grey, faded and ringed by your progress, and their page says "Not earned" in words.
- Sufficient Contrast
- Supported on all devices with Increase Contrast. In the standard appearance the lighter card colours stay bright, and white text on them measures below 4.5:1. With Increase Contrast on, every card colour, including random gradients, darkens until white text on it measures at least 5:1, text on the cards becomes fully opaque, secondary text switches to the main text colour, error messages turn a darker red and progress tracks get darker. This applies to the widgets and to the counter pages on Apple Watch too. Share images are not changed, because they are made for other people's screens.
- Reduced Motion
- Supported on all devices. With Reduce Motion on, there is no confetti, a new award appears without spinning, medals turn to their back with a fade instead of a spin, progress bars and rings appear without sweeping, cards do not wiggle while you select them, the colour picker does not pulse, the opening animation becomes a short fade, and on a Mac the inspector opens without sliding. On Apple Watch, a medal does not spin when it opens and turns over without moving. Short fades remain.
- Captions

- Audio Descriptions
- Not applicable. Vidlik has no audio or video.
Other settings Vidlik honours
- Reduce Transparency
- Vidlik uses the system materials for toolbars, sheets and the short messages over a card, and they become opaque.
- Languages
- Vidlik is available in English, Ukrainian, German, French, Spanish and Japanese.
Using Vidlik on a Mac from the keyboard
- ⌘N creates a counter. Return adds it and Esc cancels.
- ⌘1 opens the Overview and ⌘2 opens Awards.
- ⌃⌘I shows or hides the inspector with the counter's name, kind, date, emoji and colour. Changes there are saved as you make them.
- ⌘⌫ deletes the selected cards after a confirmation.
- In the reset sheet, Return records the reset and Esc cancels. Esc also closes the share sheet and a new award.
- ⌘, opens Settings.
Known limitations
These are the things we know about in the current version. Each has a fix planned; when one ships, it comes off this list.
- At the largest text sizes on iPhone and iPad, the Emoji row in the counter editor overlaps the section title above it, and the weekday names under the Stats chart are shortened to dots. The chart itself is still read by VoiceOver.
- On a Mac, VoiceOver and Voice Control have not yet been checked end to end in the new window with the sidebar and the inspector.
- On Apple Watch, VoiceOver and the largest text sizes have not yet been checked end to end. The big number on a counter page keeps its size, because it already fills the screen.
- Moving between the cards in the Mac sidebar with Tab has not been checked yet. Cards open with the pointer, the arrow keys, VoiceOver or Voice Control.
Tell us what is in the way
If something in Vidlik does not work with the way you use your device, we want to know. Say which device and system version, which setting or assistive technology you were using, and what happened. Accessibility reports are answered, and fixes for them go ahead of other work.
